    Default Phantom Close Combat?

I've heard that there will be no class restrictions on weapons, but that some classes will be able to utilize various weps better than others innately. After that, it is a matter of skill points.
Theoritically than, would it be possible to create a phantom and put most the skill points in close quarters combat to make them more akin to a stealthy rogue?

that's hopefully the idea. My fav strategy in every fps ive played is stealth and quick elimination like a rear-entry knife kill.
the only catch is we havent seen or heard of much in the way of CQB at all through vids, pics, or inverviews.

I think Van is right. Obviously, any race, class, or armor type can wield any weapon, but it makes since to make some classes better with certain weapons...

Well. Depending on how fast paced the combat is, I know what I'll do then.

It would be nice to use some sort of cloaking ability with phantoms to do a kind of suicide bomb(I have no connection to muslim-extremist). Say, I switch to me good-ole grenades...cloak myself while I bake/cook/grill/deep fry the grenade and run into a large crowd blowing myself up but maintaining a large amount of kills.

Some people who have ever played KillZone may know what I mean...

the idea seems alright, as a matter of fact, i miss that in for exampel PSU where you only can use certain weapons while being a certain class. i don't like the idea of being limited to something, because there's usually a weapon or armor that might tempt one to change class, even though you're actually satisfied with you're equipment, but i mean, it's always fun to be able to try something new without having to sacrifice all you have for it (equipment-wise).

yeah i really do agree with you Crackin, it's a very good idea

EDIT: Vital, you're one of the reasons to why we big-fat-slow moving warriors watch their back twice before taking a step

I think that I would like to be an Enfocer if I was going to be stealthy. I want to be able to do a LOT of damage in a short amount of time...

Perhaps an enforcer could work for the role, but I doubt that you could spend enough skill points to get them to move near as quick and stealthy as a Phantom.

Perhaps you could make a enforcer sniper. Hehe, heavy armored sniping bliss.

That gives me a bit of a theory though. Perhaps one of the main purposes of the avenger is to fill in that customized class role. Since I am assuming they will be decent at everything, but not great at anything, perhaps it would be easier to customize one of them.

Well im sure while an Enforcer is a bit slower, if there not wearing heavy armor then it shouldn't be THAT much of a difference. I am going to be an Avenger anyway, I was just suggesting a different class of assasins...

I'm either doing Alternix Avenger or Alteraver Enforcer, so hard to decide between a bit of stealth or mowing down Sapiens with heavy weapons...

yea, its probly going to be like planet-side. as you progress in combat levels, and gain battle points, you can purchase ''liscences'' which allows you to utalize weapons, armor, and vehicles.

say your a phantom, you could gather some battle points up... and buy a rocket launcher liscence.

as for melee, they havnt said anything about melee weapons, however... they did say there is a melee ability given by some armor or socket, somthing liek that.

I'm defianlty going to be a Phantom with a close- range kicker, granted you buy the lisencse.

Lol JinT this is your 2nd post of 3 where you mention WoW, are you besesed or you hate it?
Have you ever played BF2142? Where you have cloak that reduces your visibility to 10% and you run around, very usefull for knifing, why yu think so much in the WoW way? Was it the only game you played or something?

Combat doesn't always take place where you are far away from eachother, and besides if you run out of ammo what choice do you have. You're going to want an knife. And if you're infiltrating a base, you wouldn't want to do it with guns blazing. Stealth is good for a sniper's health. If snipers went around wearing bright colors and used air horns before every shot and had loud music blaring from their sniping spot they'd be dead pretty quick. Go ahead and tell me a form of stealth has not been added to nearly every aspect of the fighting soldier.

I suggest brass knuckles with huge spikes on them for close combat! Then when you punch somebody the spikes break off and explode after 5 seconds! Maybe a little unfair, but it would be sweet! and the person who you stuck with the spikes could even chase you around until they exploded so they could take you out with them lol

well... if i you put a boombox on a cliff, people will come...

what will happen is the sniper will drop his rifle and pick up a ''nade-launcher'' and drown out the music
