I think its great id are trying something a bit different. The Quake franchise is great but like anything its getting old.

Out off the coridoor crawling run and gun and into the more tactical team based shooter sounds like a bloody good idea.

I hope that it is an improvement. I have always enjoyed the gameplay of the Quake games but the graphic textures always drive me nuts. I always feel like everyting is painted with colored sand, not smooth. Everything always looked rusty. Some of the screen shots from the above link seemed to look that way while some of the later pics looked fantastic. Also many of the characters almost looked like cardboard cutouts..they lacked a 3d depth, but that could very well be the video settings as, again, in the later pics they players looked much more realistic. At least they have brought the outside terain into the game and moved away from the junkyard and metal playground sceens. I guess I will have to wait and see for myself how it is once it is released.
