i would agree on the mining, a stack of thorium sells for a nice 5g :P and on the rich veins there is a chance in getting arcane crystals which sell for 15-20g hurray. the other profession that i would say is alchemy, when you are able to make major healing pots they can sell for a nice 1-2g each and at a higher lvl they are able to transmute (turn 1 arcane crystal and 1 thorium bar omto a arcanite bar) whihc they can charge up to 6g for, the only down side about it though is the dam cooldown WTF is 2 days!!!!

i still think mining/skinning over mining/herb, because you can get sooo much more leather than herbs tbh

Mining / Herb seems to be the best. Mining thorium gives good money, but it is in no way easy to get to rich thorium veins, much less get the arcane crystal from it. Herbalism on the other hand makes very good money and is pretty stable. A stack of icecaps can sell for around 15 gold, and a person who farms it all day can make around 300 icecaps, so if your an extremely patient person you can make around 225g worth of icecaps per day. Skinning is easy, but the leather doens't sell for very much. The best leather sells for about 90s - 1g per stack. Now i've found a way to make a little extra money out of that, if you skin a lot of leather, and craft it into wicked leather pieces, then disenchant it, the mats sell for a lot.

Yes, mining and herbalism is the best combination for making money. However the mining is not the focus of the money making. For the most part it is simply there as an added bonus as you gather. Focus on the herbalism side of things and hit the higher end areas, you will run across veins every now and then. Focusing on mining as the primary means of income is largely a waste of time, but when using it as a backup it is a nice added bonus.

If you're looking to make money specificaly from mining your best bet is to get a group together to farm Dire Maul east. At the end of the instance are at least two thorium veins, almost a 100% chance for at least 1 arcane crystal from these. The others in the party will make plenty of money as well off of the drops in the instance and silver looted.
If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing.
