is crysis worth $3000

well basically to play this game ur going to need to blow at least $3000 (canadian) to get anything more than playable... and we are all going to ahve to ask ourselves if its truly worth it.. its been 4 years since a new pc and 1 year since an upgrade.. so i will be buying a new pc either way, but the question is if you have just recently spent money on a new pc are you going to upgrade again?

I'm currently building a new PC. I've got a couple minor components and the CPU left. All told it's going to run me less than $1500. The computer is an entirely new system, case and all. 2 gigs of corsair's Dominator RAM, good stuff, an EVGA 680i motherboard and the processor is going to be a 6600 conroe core 2 duo. My point is you can get a top of the line computer for less than $2000 easily. If you work at it you can dish it out for about $1000. I'm grabbing some of the better hardware that's out there currently.

what about ur peripherals (sp) ur gpu, harddrive(s) and cooling?

That's all included. Only thing I haven't included is a second monitor and new speakers. Which I'm still not sure I'll be getting. I can easily drop at least $400 by going with average RAM, motherboard and a lower conroe processor. And another $100 on a different case. Vid card was only $150, i'll be picking up a dx10 card after they come out and drop in price.

but that proves the point you cant get a pc to run cyrsis on max graphics for under $3000.. which appeared to be your original point.

300 for 680i nvidia mobo
400 for 2 gig ram (prob going to need 4 for vista)
600 for 2 raptor x WD hard drives in RAID 0
800 for 1 R600
1000 for QX6700 ( quad core cpu)
500 or so for power supply
200 for cooling if not more...

around $5000 canadian.. thats not even including monitor, speakers, OP or anything else..

Well my advise to you is this "GET AWAY WHILE YOU STILL CAN" Canaida sounds expensive.

Plus, do you really need to max it out? I am going to but am sure most people on lower graphics can be happy enough.

You are also forgetting to think that all the latest directX 10 games are gonna require upgrades to the title of this topic is not really valid.

At the moment lots of things have been changing, the best thing to do maybe is wait a little bit for hardware to drop in price as new hardware is always expensive at first.

Last comment I want to add is this, if you really know what your doing when building your own PC then you will know how to setup a system to give outstanding performance with less money and I don't mean overclocking, I mean just knowing what will work together well, how to really set it up and knowing what software and drivers work best with the hardware you have.

those figures you trow around are a joke

in worst case scenario an upgrade will cost me few 100 to play the game with acceptable fps... but i try it 1st to see how it runs on my current rig

my current rig runs bf2/2142 on ALL max settings ok, i built it my self and it cost me not even $800

i recommend pricewatch.com, ebay.com (NOT ebay.xx) and computershows that way you not only shop cheaper but you wont pay tax.. and this no mater where you live

$500 for a powersupply LOL ... your not serious right ?! i have 950gigs on 3 HD's + 2 DVDRW + 4 fan's + extra lights and 4 pc-cards in my rig and i paid $15 for my powersupply

I'm gonna need a serious upgrade, I don't think I'll be playing Crysis until maybe late 2009, when building a Crysis-worthy computer will be cheaper
